swiching to synthetic oil c-15 acert with 569000 miles on it

I currently use Rotella 15w-40 I want to switch to a full synthetic the engine has 569000 on it and uses 1 gallon of oil every 15000 miles. Should I switch to Rotella T5 or T6 or should I switch to the blend first and then eventually to the full synthetic?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Well fuel mileage your not going to see much improvement there because even the oil mfg say up to 2% fuel saving and that's for city driving and cold weather because those operations are local and engines don't have opportunity to get good and hot. Starting you would see difference in the cold weather. I just went to Mobil web site and they quit using up 2% and replaced it with this wording. potential fuel economy for modern diesel engines operating in severe applications.

I switched to Mobil Delvac ESP 1 5W40 on my C15 with 752000 miles on it when I had OPS bypass system installed. I can't say with certainty about any fuel mileage gains on the synthetic oil, but I do like the extended oil changes and analysis reports. The reports were important to me so that hopefully I can spot in advance any problems developing in my engine. I am currently averaging right at 7 mpg in Fuel Gauges, but I drive slow, look for light loads, etc.

switch to synthetic only if using a by-pass filter system, the cost without it is prohibitive.you may extend your oil change intervals a bit.but bypass system with oil analysis is the way to go
