My suggestion would be to stop off at a cb shop and pick up a thicker gauged plug for your radio and run power direct from battery and ground direct to chassie..Run another piece of 14 gauge wire from screw on piece od the coax at back of radio(use a small hose clamp to hold it to the screw on paert at back of radio)and run that other end to chassie as well..Make sure there is no dirt/corrision/paint where you connect to chassie...Doin so will offer a cleaner power signal/supply to the radio and also adding to a increased ground plane and may help with trans/rec distence of your set up..
