steer axle lug studs

Have a '93 KW ,T600, Budd wheels w/ aluminum hubs and wheels, 24.5 lp.On the steer axle, left side, We keep breaking studs, one at a time, changed out all studs, same problem, changed lug nuts to severe service type, same problem, recently changed the aluminum hug out, installed a steel hug, waiting to see if this cures the problem, also this only happens to the left side. Anyone had this problem??

Have you investigated the wheel? Maybe there is a defect in the wheel that is not allowing it to seat against the hub properly. I'm just throwing out an idea, I don't really have a actual answer for you.

I would guess that the studs might have been some what loose in the hub. I just swapped my old ball mount hubs for Hub Pilot hubs and wheels on my 87 359 Pete. My studs could be knocked out with a medium size hammer. I say the hub replacement will probably take care of the problem.

interstate, I changed the wheel due to the other one cracked, I think the hub was the problem but if it doesn't fix, then I will do as blackwood and change it all out to hub-pilot. blackwood, was that much of a problem??

No, went through Peterbilt and they matched the new hubs with the existing wheel bearings and they are working fine.
