Purging every 60 seconds!

2008 Freightliner Classic

MBE 4000

Air system purges approx every 60 seconds.

There is no drop in air pressure during this time.

I replaced the purge valve but this did not solve the problem.

What should be my next course of action?

I want to do as much as I can myself without getting the Freightliner money machine involved!

Air compressor, air dryer and most air lines, connections, etc. were replaced in March due to this problem. Freightliner was unable to determine the cause and just kept throwing parts at it until it was fixed. They never did determine what the actual problem was but it has returned.

Thank you!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Have you tryed a new governor? cost 20.00 dollars & you can change it yourself. It controls when the compressor turns on & off.

Usually it will be a leak in the line from the governor to the air dryer or the governor it self. If this line bleeds any air it will cause the dryer to purge constantly.

^^^ Yes, or the dryer itself could be bad.

Awesome feedback! Thank you!

It was the air line fitting that sits on the top of the air compressor. It was the air line that runs to the governor. $7 and 5 minutes.

Check out the Bendix air compressor troubleshooting guide, here's a link good as of May 2018, but you can google it too... http://www.bendix.com/media/documents/pr...
