bunk air condition freezing

I have a 2003 volvo and my bunk air condition blows cold continously till it freezes up, I have to turn ac off for a few min to thaw and turn ac back again. So when i sleep at night its crazy coz had to wake up to turn it off and on every time, otherwise it freezes up and ice build up making the air stop blowing . my cab a/c works fine, just the bunk freezes up.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

In my opnion you mat use the Thermostat because when you use thermostat it will detect the Temperature. If the temperature is going increase it will shut down the AC automatically and when temperature is increasing it will start it again automatically. SO in these way you problem is solved.

Bad expansion valve in your bunk unit.

Could also be the thermostat in the sleeper control that's not turning it off when it reaches the thermostat setting. I have one in my Pete and I'm sure it's set up the same way in your truck. My front unit has a thermostat that has a probe that goes into the evaporator core and the rear unit has a ambient air temp thermostat that works the same way your house thermostat works. If it is not working cause it's stuck in the closed position it will freeze up.

is there ample air flow to the evaporator? if it has a cabin air filter for the bunk change it, if not check for leaves, hair, debris, etc. usually the biggest cause of freezing an evaporator is not enough air flow to warm it up.
