A lot of the companies will not take on trucks that can't go to CA

$11K including installation = Donaldson DPF that makes the glider CA legal. Donaldson would be the best DPF vendor; they are "quality". That would put a glider at 80K + 11K for the above approach. However, impact on mpg would matter; the new trucks designed for DPF might get better mpg than glider with DPF; but not necessarily, as gliders produce less soot due to zero EGR.

I've not heard of any that do so. I asked Schneider Finance if they work with gliders at all and they said no. Only way they would get a glider is if someone traded it in to them for a brand new truck (not sure why you would do that though.)

Most companies are not going to invest the money in a glider for a lease purchase, they are going to use their buying power with the dealers to get brand new trucks and then lease them back to the ICs to reduce overhead on the truck and still get it paid for.

I tried too! We even have the old Century (pre-EGR) that Schneider used for core. (If you have core tractor, you can get a powered glider and pay for 5/500K warranty on reman engine.... Schneider did this, but re-used their old fuel tanks and 5th wheels, plus the obvious rears and tranny.... for a ridiculously low price. Total completed glider in the $70K's! I wanted in, and said I'd finance through them. "NO"! I might do the same thing on my own, and may still get it all done for around $80K. As I see it, at worst, I'll eventually have to rebuild tranny and rears, but all of this won't be more than $10K.

There are a few carriers that area buying only gliders for their own company fleet trucks, but I have never heard of one of them also doing the lease purchase thing. Might be possible to get a better deal buying one of the gliders the get in a bulk buy.

Just stay out of CA lol. I dont even go there anymore. Not worth all the BS. Plenty of freight going elsewhere.
