What does the Scan Gauge KR do that the Scan Gauge D does not do?

The ScanGauge KR has a 8 second "smoothed over" instant MPG reading, rather than instant readings that jump all over the place too fast.
It also has an instant Profit Per Mile reading as you're going down the road. This is achieved by entering your price of fuel at each fill-up and either your load rate or fuel surcharge rate. It's an amazing function watching profit change as you go down the road. It's a real incentive to adapt your driving habits. The end result is more profit for the driver.

I'd be interested in knowing what the custom programming they've done that was not already on the D as well. I know Kevin mentioned they were doing some custom programming to give additional information or more in-depth info that the D did not have.
Nobody knows huh? What I am looking for is someone to tell me the specific readings the KR reads, so I can compare it with the specific things the D model reads. Like I said above, I know the D does not read ECM mileage, are there any other things different between the two?
I heard what Kevin said at the beginning of hour 3 on Sunday 4.7.13 show, but that did not answer my question.
According to KR today on his show....
The 8 second is not a delay, its an average over the last 8 seconds. This helps to not make the data so jumpy and thus give you an actual number to work with.
He also said if you use fuel gauges, you can figure out the adjustment needed and adjust the scan gauge to give more accurate results.
One thing, not mentioned here, that differentiates the KR from the D is the fact that the KR unit will display the odometer reading whereas the D can't do that. I know this from actually calling up the manufacturer who relayed this information.
In the prostar there is a readout 'instant gpm'..how is this different from the scanguage??
More importantly in hilly country isn't the 8 second too long a time to make adjustments? Just asking here, for example as I go up a hill there is a tendency to step on it a bit, but I would like to see just how much I should step on it to keep mpg as high as possible....thus I think 8 seconds may be too much averaging for me...
Never saw the need to pay more for the KR version. I have been using the D version for about 6 years. Did get a new one when I got my present truck. The other had seen better days. I don't pay attention to instantaneous mpg reading, just the average from startup. Based on where my OEM gauges are located and the Columbia steering wheel, I use the Scangauge primarily as an easier way to see other stuff along with average mpg.
