Stiction Eliminator, cleans injectors

This product claims to remove stiction 100% Guaranteed. Scientifically formulated to eliminate the stiction. May prevent replacing your injectors. In less than 4,000 miles stop excessive black smoke and bucking and chugging on cold starts.

Pros:

Sounds like it works

Sounds like it cleans up the insides very well

Cons:

Very thin liquid to add to the oil

Very expensive if it is just another prank. Over $100 to get treated.

Has anyone ever used this and was it a good buy?

I have decided to try it. I don't think the product promotes extra mile per gallon but that is the biggest change that I have seen in my truck. I drive north west for the past year and the best I have ever done is 6.0 to 6.3 mile per gallon. I am sitting in Cheyenne write now and I am shocked that I am leaving this state at 7.0 mpg with 43k in the trailer. Never seen this before. Some what disbelieve that this oil additive could make this big of a change.

by

The stuff in that bottle did not make that big of a change. Other factors were involved, like a tailwind and less hills than the northwest.

by

I finished the run in IN. After Cheyenne the weather was so bad they shut the roads down because of wind and snow. Then I got another load that was 44K to KY. After all that I am at 6.8 and the best I have ever done for any mount of time before with out this was 6.3. There is nothing in it for me to promote this and my testing is not as good as Kevin Rutherford but I do know that it has did something for my truck. This is the first time I have spent money to improve the MPG. $100 well spent for my truck.

by

Wait! Before you run out and buy this you should see my oil sample results. As soon as I get 20,000 miles I will send in a sample then post here a before and after. This is important because the product is very thin and this could be bad and the oil sample should tell me. The one good thing about my truck and the oil samples is that they are always the same.

by

My oil pressure is up about 8 psi now that I have put this in as well

Let's look at facts. Lucas Oil Stabilizer is just a straight 50w base oil. No additives of any kind. This has been proven in virgin oil analysis done on the product. It is just an oil viscosity thickener, nothing more. The trucker's version of the old STP Oil treatment. If one wants a thicker oil, then just use a 15w50 diesel oil. It would include the vital additives that control oxidation, sludge, soot loading, etc. And it is one heck of a lot cheaper than adding a gallon of Lucas. And I have had several engines go well over 1 million miles without having to be opened up and they never saw a gallon of Lucas OS. Just the name fascinates me... Lucas Oil Stabilizer. I would like someone to prove to me than modern diesel engine oils are unstable.

As opposed to Lucas being nothing more than a base oil, the Hot Shot's Secret is a monster load of additives that are normally found in motor oils with no base oil added. Two totally different products based on different chemistry.

I got a buddy that has a Ford pick up with a Power Stroke engine that when cranked cold it would not accelerate till it had completely warmed up. I told him about Hot Shot Secret and after using it within 1000 miles it corrected this situation. Because of the higher fuel pressures when you shut off these small diesel engines without cooling them down tends to bake the oil around the injectors and gums them up. All I know is it worked for him. I'm sure people could make the same claims about BG44 and such....

It may work on the power stroke but big engines do not have a stiction problem. It would be a waste of money since we don't drive pick ups with little motors.

by

True but people that fail to cool their truck engines before shut down cause oil to bake in the turbo causing carbon build up. This is a leading cause of turbo failure due to oil restriction through the cartridge. It also claims to clean this type of build up.

i have used this! first did the oil treatment probably got 75-80% improvement! just followed up with the fuel treatment! Wow the fuel treatment is awesome! found it at a small truckstop in In. $26 a bottle 2 to treat like the oil! Seems like it is 100% better now! Well worth the investment! If I did it again i would do them both together! Good Luck

Cwitten... I call BS. Snake oil SPAM. What was your mpg before and after the miracle treatment? According to your statement if you were to be at 5mpg before then you should be at 10mpg after - since it's 100% better. Either simple math is too hard for you or you lie. Which one is it?

Jerzy, I see why you would say this but have you ever used it before?

by

No, because i'm not a sucker...anymore :) The only things that will help is stuff like the bg44 treatment or similar injector cleaners that are plumbed directly into the fuel rail and are mostly done by engine shops and dealerships. Some independent shops clean injectors that way as well but there may be potential warranty issues if they mess something up. Also forget about any other bottled additives for treating fuel or oil. Lucas, howe's and power service fuel treatments lower my mpg, power service and howe's anti-gel...gel. The only thing that worked so far is the orange 911 for de-gelling fuel. Oh, and lucas oil stabilizer turns oil into molasses. Now there's also centramatic fuel treatment...forget about it! Whenever there's money to be made on desperate people there's always someone selling magic potions.

by

Jerzy you said it best with calling it a magic potion why call it SECRET if it was good stuff and you are most likely correct about this. I hope that there are some people on this forum that has used it and can tell me what they think about it but until then because of Jerzy I will not be buying this. Thanks to the most trusted forum for truckers.

You can actually get stiction on a big diesel if your bad to not allow it to cool before shutdown, it fries the oil in the turbo and is a common reason for turbo failure. Also on a Cummins injector it is also lubricated from the top which is the oil side so theoretically it could gum up and stick. I've lost an injector on my N14 like this and would have gladly tried this product to see it it would have broken it loose but It wasn't available back then. They also offer a money back guarantee if it don't work so whats to loose?

by

I guess nothing to lose with money back but when you shut the engine off it's around 180-190 F and the oil won't get much cooler. I'm just against most of additives weather for oil or fuel because if the formulation could be improved it would be the manufacturers. From reading about stiction it happens only in engines with fuel pressure times higher than our big diesels. I also don't think that potion could've saved your injector- n14 are known to go through injectors like nobody's business.

I didn't say fuel mileage was better! I said condition was better! Just an opinion!

Man, I wish I had read this before, I have been adding a gallon of Lucas oil treatment at each oil change and using a gallon of Lucas fuel treatment twice a month, I have been doing this for the last 25 years, so I'm sure I've screwed up my engine, Wonder why they last over a million miles and I never have injector problems?? There must be a lot of fools like me, cause Forrest Lucas is a multi-millionaire!!

In the past 25 years technology has progressed quite a bit. Unfortunately, some people have not caught on. But don't worry - you can still learn something new...as long as you keep an open mind and are willing to do some research ;)

by

I've had engines last millions of miles and I've also never had an injector problem and I have never used one gallon of Lucas. Just sayin'.

by

Yeah, I have had engines go well beyond 1 million using only a quality oil and filter. My N-14 went to 1.4 mil, it did get one injector and an accessory drive seal. But it went right to work for the next owner. All on a Kendall conventional 15w40 and Baldwin filters.

I have heard that regarding the idle cooldown, if you are moving at low speeds for about 5 minutes, even if it is not at idle, it does the same thing as sitting idling for 5 minutes, and wastes less fuel.

This is the wonder of having EGT gauge to offer some insight. The probe for mine is at the turbo exhaust port. Easy to determine if turbo has cooled. In many cases, a simple slowing down and coasting to and down an off ramp or rest area can indeed be all that is needed to have turbo temps down to shutoff temps. Hot days, hard pulls, etc, it may require a short idle time to get temps down. I never have to idle for more than a minute or two in those situations.

I have always heard that stuff in a bottle will never cure mechanical problems. I believe that if there truly were miracles in a bottle that could be proven effective that the big distributors of oil would use it and make a zillion dollars. Just saying.

,,, the stiction stuff is designed for the oil actuated, power-stroke, injectors . I think what they need is a good bypass filter system, to avoid problems in the first place. along with a quality, low viscosity, multi grade oil .

I would take it a step further. An oil that has a very low NOACK (burn off) rating. That almost means using a good quality synthetic. There has been many studies that show deposits in engines can be correlated to NOACK performance of the oil. Almost every brand will list their NOACK rating on their spec sheets.

I've broke seized boat motors loose with liquid wrench before and ran them, things can be fixed with chemicals degreaser cleans grease it works just because its inside of a motor doesn't change penetrating lubricant or a cleaning detergent will help friction stiction or cleaning. Just like Lucas its just 50 weight oil that's been proven but pour 50w out of a bottle and 15w at the same time which one will pour out faster, the 50w sticks to the turbo cam rods cylinder walls where most of the 15w would just run down into the crank case while the motor is hot the thicker oil sticks around for the next time you start up that when the most wear happens in a motor think about how many times you would start and stop a motor in a 300,000 miles thats a lot of wear until finally you start seeing a power lose and a louder motor might not ever blow but eventually it will get to the point it needs a over haul now if the heavier oil was their for the couple of seconds it takes for the oil pump to pump oil to the cam lobes, the cam bearings, on the valves and in the turbo it might have lasted 200,000 miles longer. With that being said in not saying you can put a can whatever that says it restores metal in a woreout motor that's bs the only thing that stuff does is give you false readings on a cylinder presser check cause the additive is so thick that when you turn the motor over it seals the gap between the rings and the wall and they are amazed that it brought the cylinder up from holding 40 psi to 120 psi and its so thick on the valves and mains and rod bearings that it dampens the loud ticking and or knocking sound people hear its not as loud anymore and swear up and down that stuff is the real deal it fixed my motor right up until they run in a few more miles and it throws a rod or spins mains and locks up that just the way I think. I know that you are going to fix what's wore out and needs to be turned rebuild or replace but as far as cleaning out and protecting against engine wear or say the stiction with the injectors if you got one that's got gunk in the spoil and its not opening like it should and you put a chemical in the oil and in the fuel that cleans and lubes why couldn't it break apart that build up and help the valve open and close better which would give you more power cause the valve that was opening at 50% is now opening at 75% letting the oil hit the injector harder and injecting fuel better and getting more combustion, smoother idle and less misfiring/injector knock on a cold start not saying its going to fix it completely but if it helps and it works that's nothing but a plus in my book
