Sub categories don't show up in reports

Is there a way that I can print out my reports with the sub categories also. All I get when I print out reports is the main categories. This makes if very difficult for me to make sure I entered in all my expenses for the year.

I use 2 programs and then compare the numbers for the year so I know everything has been entered.

I was very sad to find out Profit gauges doesn't do this. It took me 2 nights to make my numbers match because I had to go through all my receipts for the year.

Hopefully this can be added in an update so next year I wont have to go through all this again.

If this cannot be done is there a way you could go to my account and make all my sub categories a main category?

Jackie,

I'll talk with the programmers and see if this is something that can be done quickly or if we'll have to add it to our features list.

Sorry you had to do that extra work.

It's not your fault, at least I'm done now. I was putting it off for a while but paperwork undone isn't cool with me :) As long as it's fixed by next year I'll be fine. That's kind of selfish of me though since I know others might want that feature :)

One thing good came of it though in the mean time I changed the way I do things so it will be easier next time if it doesn't get added. I know your programmers are busy.

Very disappointed in PG as well. We've just spent two long days trying to get stuff together for our tax person, and it certainly involved more than the "one sheet tax report" which is touted with PG. You very much need to be able to click on a category and see what info is feeding into that total because the totals aren't matching and/or are not clear, and no way to double check what's been entered or not, without going back through a year's worth of receipts and settlements. We've also been waiting since yesterday for an answer to questions, left messages, sent emails, etc, no response, and we're losing road, i.e., work time. Like Jackie, long hours spent going back through our expenses, etc. to try to come up with something and still not comfortable that the totals we're turning into our accountant are accurate. The program is advertised for streamlined efficiency and it feels like anything but that

John, Glad we were able to talk on the phone and got everything sorted out.

I'd also like this feature, not only for being able to verify all the info but also I like numbers and it'd be nice to see how much each sub-cat is costing when I'm lookin at where I can improve my bottom-line.

I too had thought it was a little odd that when entering revenue you enter it as a subcategory and all the subcategories of revenue show up but not the subcategories on the expenses side. thought really like the simplicity of the business report the why it is. I think if any changes are made it would be best to leave the basic business report the way it is but be able to click on a category to show the sub categories and the details of that category.

Yeah or to be able to at least choose between summary and detailed reports.

This is something we've already been working on but just have not put a lot of attention to it. I've moved it up on our list. Thanks for sharing like concerns. Makes it easier on me to decide what we are going to work on next.

I agree - very frustrating to not be able to click a category and see what's in there, subcategories and all. We need to be able to verify what's in each category. In our case the total in one category on the Reports side doesn't add up to what's entered in the Expense side. Hopefully we don't find more tonight, it's been a long day already! Looking forward to you adding that feature.

Thanks!

If you are noticing that there is a difference in your category totals you'll want to look at your settlements and monthly expenses. Check out your sub-categories making sure they are linked to the correct main category. We are rushing to get this feature added. Thanks for you patience.

Thanks Aaron I know you are doing your best.

Its just that by keeping things too simple sometimes it has its drawbacks.

Just because your settlements square out it doesn't mean that you didn't get your expenses mixed up. Like the other day I got my fuel mixed up with other expenses and even though my net on my settlements was right, it took me a whole day to figure out what I did wrong, just because I could not see what I had put on the subcategories.

Also on the same point. We need to be able to see subcategories on Retained Earnings. Even though, Retained Earnings, its not going into any reports, how are we ever going to know and verify how much money we have on our escrow account? This featured in my opinion is a must, as my carrier might say at the end of the year that I have a certain amount in total but how do we really know?

Thanks!

Just to add my two cents this is the one improvement I would like to see also. Would be nice to see how much I am spending per mile for tires or oil changes for example.
