Don't idle that new rebuilt engine, unless you set it on hight idle like 1,100 rpm. I had my S60 rebuild. let tell you, I idle it at low rpm i like 2 times I had oil all over the place it seemed. I stopped idling untill i could get more miles on engine. If i had to idle i set the rpm high like 1,100. My truck as that Optimized Idle system and it idles engine at 1,100 rpm.

Those engine have like 3 year warranty dont they ? I would not worry about untile you break in the engine. Dont idle that engine it really bad for it I heard when new.

My S60 is good now no dripping oil or blow by smoke out the vent tube i got like 150,000 miles on inframe

I have had my share of trouble with this truck. I won't go into the full list of problems but just had the rings and liners replaced, bearings and coolant flushed because rings didn't seat properly.I have a vibration under load that can't seem to be found, and I noticed today oil residue in coolant resovoir after 4000 miles on new rings/liners. I'm having 2nd output shaft seal replaced this week and also front wiring harness burnt a pin off and driver side lights and markers dont work. I have 55,ooo miles on truck.

Hope this helps.

Well 11.7 and 12.7 are like old HD's they leave a spot were they sit. Detroit always said it is normal to drip oil and smoke from the crank case vent....

You will a top set after break in.

If this is a new or rebuild

My Wrench just told me 1gal oil / 5000miles is normal until 1st topset in done.....But tell you dealer make sure they have it noted and give you a copy of the WO.

stating owner concerned of exessive blowby .....

I would take it out and drive it like you stole it, especially on some long pulls to make sure the rings seat. ''italic text''

Your first post was Jul 29 2012 when you had the problem. Did it ever get better and what do you think of the truck now?

I heard that some of the "remanned" DD engines done at Fitz use after market parts. I know an O/O that had issues. (insert tongue in cheek).
