3.08 gears with volvo Ishift

Just wondering what people thought about a 12 speed ishift with 3.08 gears. I plan on running 58-62 and pulling light air freight in the west, do these gears and transmission make sense for this type of operation. Thanks

thanks the hp and torque shouldn't be an issue it the truck has the ved16 rated at 535hp and i wanna say 1950 on the torque. I'm hoping with everything running right and the light freight I can have a base line mpg of about 7-7.2 to start from and improve from there if i run it right.

Sometimes if you go too low with the gears and don't have the torque and hp you will get the opposite effect.Case in point. We have two identical trucks, one with MP8,and one with MP7.the MP7 can't get over 6mpg and the MP8 gets 7.6.This is even with switching drivers. They pull tankers

Hey Robert, I run a 2013 Volvo 670 D13 w/ 3.08 rear gear and I shift. I absolutely love this truck. I drive 55 and am averaging over 8 mpg. See my fuel guages...look up Smoke Bomb.... I haul average to heavy loads. I see no reason for you to do better than I with the loads you describe.

I ordered a new truck Volvo 730 with the D13 and I shift with the 3.07 gear single drive axle with optional locking differential. So Im confident this combination/configuration will get me better fuel mileage once get my own truck. Take Care Chad....

Robert I forgot...You may do even better with the new XE package which is designed for lighter loads. Its got the D13 12 speed I shift and 2.67 gears. I would have ordered this truck but I was a little skeptical for my application.

The D13 Is all you will need. Mine is 455 hp 1750 torque. Pulls just as good or better as the Western Star 500 HP Cat I used to drive.

Volvo has it nailed with the computer controlled fuel management system.
