Anybody use an EGR Tuner?

I'm looking at getting an EGR Tuner from http://www.egrtuner.com/. I would be putting this on my 2006 Detroit Series 60, DDV.

The idea of the unit is to fool the system to thinking it's at higher altitude, thus reducing EGR to 7%.

Does anybody have experience with this? I know there's also an item on Ebay that claims to do the same thing:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/190671657974?ite...

Comments and experience would be appreciated.

Egr tuner is the best $400 I ever spent. ROI within two weeks. Gained almost a full mpg according to IFTA quarterlies over the last year. Cured turbo cough immediately and completely; more power, and; oil stays nice and clean. Don't know why Kevin doesn't push this product by Jeff Justus.

The other thing on eBay is on the right track, but is not adjustable for the times you do encounter altitude shifts.

NEVER base your MPGs on IFTA quarterly reports - base them off paper, pen and calculator!

Jeff Justus's phone number is 208-250-5910. Best guy to talk to about the egr tuner. Since his wesite is down, give him a call.

Wish I had Justus' phone number earlier. I just bought the plug-in item on Ebay. For about $150 it seemed a good gamble. My truck on Gauges is D40689. I also just had an overhead run. We'll see how it all works...

I installed the Jeff Justus EGR Tuner June 13, 2012. I have not currently been having EGR problems, but in 08' &09' I spent thousands of dollars trying to cure the black smoke/coughing problems. Those problems only ended with a thorough in-frame at a Detroit Diesel shop. Part of my purpose in installing the EGR Tuner was to avoid a repeat of my 08'/09' experience. The other part was to increase MPG.

Only one tankful so far... Stanfield, OR to Rochelle, IL, 1879 miles on 215.120 gallons for 8.734 MPG. 05' FL Classic, DDEC V, 11' Utility Reefer w/ skirts, X-1's all around, 29K in the box. There was a tail wind most of the way, but Iowa was a cross wind. May 12' MPG 7.512. In late March 12' I pulled a similar load the same distance under more favorable conditions, but with X-1 XDA Energy down to the nubs, for a 8.685 MPG. Current X-1's have only 20K miles on them. I rarely exceed 58 MPH.

Surely much more tracking and data is necessary, but the engine is running very well and no codes are popping up. I will see how stats compare at the end of July.

David, I would send you to egrtuner.com, but that site has been down for about a week, and still is as of a minute ago. Try the other product through the Ebay link. A couple people I've corresponded with that bought it seem to like it too.

David, I am not positive on this, but pretty sure the EGR Tuner from egrtuner.com is designed for DDEC IV & V engines only. The instructions that came with my kit were for those engines and I do not remember any other engines on the site when I ordered. If you still want an explanation of where and how to install the kit, let me know. I'll be glad to help. PS, the installation was fairly easy, even for a klutz like me, once you grasp the concept.

I put on my egr tuner and pittsburgh power muffler on 2 days after my fleet air filter. I was in the 5.8-6mpg range before the upgrades. Now I'm in the 6.8-7.1 range. I am very pleased with the results. I'm expecting roi in my first month with these mods!

I found something else that gets rid of all EGR problems. It is an electronic device that controls how the EGR system and Turbo work. You may take a look at www.egrxtremepower.com , it sure made a difference in my truck.

The EGR system is built in your engine if it was manufactured after 2002. It was designed to lower NOx emssions but I created a lot of problems; Coughing, black smoke, power derate and surges, and a lot more. What all these devices try to do in different ways is to get rid of all those problems. I tried the one in www.egrxtremepower and it does great, no mechanical problems, more power and better fuel mileage.

The Ugly fix comes with the instructions on where to install. Also on their website is a P D F. File you can view or download. If you are having problems give them a call. They are very nice and helpful.

Unfortunately Ugly fix didn't work for me coz my 2008 Cascadia doesn't have a Barometric Pressure Sensor..... Yet it has EGR/DPF system. Puzzling. Anyway, anyone know of any other product out there I could look at?
