C13 Overheating, Kevin talked to a caller about the fix, remember?

About two months ago maybe longer a caller informed the show of a fix on only C13s that get hot fast when going through the gears and won't stay warm when idling. I have replaced 4 thermostats (3 warranty) and I am still having the same problem (same as the caller) and he found the fix but I lost signal on Sirius and for the life of me cannot remember what the fix was or how to explain it to the CAT Shack.

I do remember that it had something to do with a small check ball diverting the coolant directly back into the system but bypassing the radiator, whatever it is, it is only on the C13.

Sorry for the long winded explaination but I have got to get this figured out. Truck gets hot when it shouldn't and cant get it to stay warm when it should.

Thanks in advance

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Comments:

I have a 2007- 379 with a 2006 C15 that does the same thing. If I climb a hill it will overheat in no time, and will not stay warm in winter at an idle (1000 rpm).

I'll ask Todd Stewart in our shop and post an answer tomorrow either way.

I remember it to as I was thinking it might be what was wrong with my 3406E. If I remember correctly there is a ball in between the two thermostats that regulates the coolant some how and if it's not there can cause the system to not work correctly. Hopefully this will help with your explanation to your shop. Good luck.
