Elimanate Eco Roll 2018 Freightliner

I asked my company to remove the Eco Roll setting in my (I drive company truck) 2018 Freightliner. They agreed and took it in to Freightliner in Surrey BC Canada. Freightliner told our mechanic that it is a factory setting and they have no way to change it. I find this answer to be unacceptable. It's just software and there must be some way to change the parameters.

There is a safety issue here. It is simply not safe. It has not worked properly or safely since I got this truck. If anyone is interested I can post the failure details in another post.

All I want to know now is how to change the Economy setting of Eco Roll.

# Thank you. This is what I’ve been doing. What I’m after, (as well as our company), is a way to make this change permanent.

Freightliner tells management that this is set at factory and can’t be changed. I’m an ex-programer and I know if a parameter can be initially set, it can be set at any time. Freightliner can and may have this setting password protected. I believe, if this is the case, it is wrong and dangerous. There may not be any recorded accidents blaming this “e-roll” as being the cause but this would be because the driver is ultmately resonsable for the truck and this is where the investigator will stop.

One other concern is, car and truck manufacters as well as the space craft industry (remember the Columbia) have a dismal record when it comes to reliability. The lowest bidder always gets the contract. Where do you think the savings come from.

Thanks. I’m finished my rant now.

Again, how do I make the performance change permanent?

There is a button on the jake lever to switch between economy and performance, if you have it in the performance mode it won’t go into e-coast. My company had to enable that setting, tho it keeps automatically switching back to econ, so you have to keep hitting the button.
