Repair and maintenance deductions

My tax preparer says repairs and maintenance does not qualify if you deduct miles. Thank you.

He is right! On your personal vehicle, used for busines purposes, the deduction is for gas and maintenence [your gas and maintenence should be a LOT less than the standard mileage deduction}

Looks like the answer is more related to a personal four wheeler used for business. I need to explain myself better. I was referring to my eighteen wheeler and my maintenance on 2017 was over 13000 thousand dollar wich was 21 cents per mile. When I listen to Kevin Rutherford I understand any tires or anything you spend money would be deducted from your gross income and separately you would deduct diesel expenses or miles wichever is higher.


You never take the standard mileage deduction on the semi, You should always be taking it for your personal vehicle used for business and medical trips.
