Assuming your business is set up as a sole-proprietor, partnership, or single-member LLC, charitable donations are not generally allowed as a business expense on your Schedule C. If you itemize your deductions on your personal tax return, donations to a 501.3c charitable organization are claimed on Schedule A.

If you make a payment to a charitable organization that was not for charity and your business receives a benefit, such as advertising space, you may deduct the payment as an expense.
