I heard Kevin stress one time on the air that they had to be BUSINESS related books, so I might look into this a little further.

Yes, you'll want to make certain they are business related somehow. You can be as creative as you want. If you pay for a Audible.com subscription then you'd be safe and if you "accidentally" purchased a "less than business" business book then it might be difficult to prove.

This is of course coming from Aaron the friend and not Aaron the owner of Let's Truck :)

Would this count for a company driver?

by

According to what I know... and I could be wrong. Company drivers are not afforded the same expenses as those who own their own company. HOWEVER, I do know that if you're in the process of starting your business (can be run simply under your SS#) in hopes of one day becoming an owner operator for instance that you can most likely write off your educational materials. Just to be certain though I'd speak with a tax accountant. One thing they'll say is that you'll need to file a Schedule C form rather than a 1040 or 1040 EZ.
