mine was doing that, there was a hole in the "signal wire" the air line going from the governor to the dryer itself, once i fixed that, the dryer operated properly

The air leak at the bottom of the air dryer is bad enough to where it does not build air out the big valve

Must be a Meritor 1200 or something close to it has spin on filter

I need to explain the problem a little better, this airdyer is a wabco with a spin on filter. When you start the truck without any air showing on the gauge, it starts building air with no problem till it gets to 130 psi with no air leaking from the perge value, but as soon as it perges, its starts leaking as long as the compresser is going. But as soon as you turn off the truck, it stops leaking and it holds pressure. I replaced the airgovenor and the spinoff filter.

The reason I ask is because I believe its normal for that system cause I had the same thing happen as long as the motor was running it would leak a little air then quit when you turned the motor off. I had 2 brand new air dyers install for this very reason. The first one I paid for still leaking air so I went back to dealer and they figure it was a bad unit so they had to order in another new one in cause they thought there was a problem with it but when they received the other new one they got that one installed and it did the same thing so out of 3 air dyers they all leaked air while motor was running

Thanks for that info. Now I can sleep better at nights and have a smile on my face when I go through a weigh station. Thanks

Check the air line from the Air governor to the dryer. Spray it down with 409 or soapy water especially if it's a wire braided line. If it's foaming or bubbling up replace the line. If it's leaking it will cause this. On a Bendix dryer it will make it purge continually.
