What PPM does it take to be good on leasing.

Ok will probably take beating for this but here it goes.

Been Company Driver for 20 years some really good Gigs. Have had my own Business which was good till economy tanked.

So looking into purchasing Truck. New or Used.

The company I have been Pre Hired for Pays $1.68 loaded. $1.51 empty. Absolutely no sitting.Miles up to you. Average 2500 more if you want to work.

Base plates\,ins,permits,fuel card with very good discounts also provided. Can also move to a %.Which some drivers say is way better.

So all that being said. Not sure about New or Used. Have read most of threads here. If you Cant Pay Cash Dont Do It. Well I think 90% of guys out there did not pay cash. Not on any thing that can pass inspection any way.

So Im looking at $50000 used 2010 or New Freight liner or Pete.So let the schooling Begin.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Your on the right track buying a used truck is always the best way to go for a first time buyer. The only thing I would look for different than you is a 2005 or 2006 truck and stay away from the EGR engines......

Agree with you on a used truck. I'd probably be looking at older than you are. I'd be looking for 2000 to 2003, these will be pre egr. That would eliminate California, but oh well. Plenty of money to be made outside of California. Should be able to get a good truck for 20,000 or less. You can expect to have to make some repairs.

I'd look at leasing to a carrier that pays on a percentage. that way as rates go up, so does your pay. Just my opionion.

Good luck with whatever you do.
