Per Diem for leaving or arriving home

I know the IRS allows $59/day as a per diem expense, which they give 80% or $47.20/day as a deduction.

What about days on which you leave home or arrive back at home: is there a percentage of that 80% deduction, like 50% or 75% of that $47.20? Thanks in advance!

The day that you leave and the day you return are counted as 3/4 of a day. In order to keep things simple, I don't calculate any dollar amounts until the tax return.

Just count your number of days away each month.

If you are using ProfitGauges you would put in the number of days away each month (including partial days) and the program will calculate your per diem deduction for you.
