My radio doesn't work in my FLD

I have an FLD. The radio doesn't work. I pulled the radio out to look at the plugs. The radio went on for a split second. I get faint voice & static. Has anybody had this problem? Did you fix it or have it fixed? Or just get a new radio installed?

Do I need a radio designed for trucks because of the speaker system in a truck? Or can I put any car radio in my truck; are the plugs interchangeable?

I might like to install make a Sirius Radio?

Would it be better to have a pro install this, or is this a plug and play?

I would suggest take to someone who does this for a living you might get a cleaner job because they will have all of the adapter plates for proper installation. Speakers could be the problem with your radio and possibly should be replaced too. They can also hook up your XM at this time. Of course if your are handy with tools a radio swap is not a difficult task.

My radio now works, when I turn on the engine.

After going thought this I do believe it would be a good idea to get a radio designed for a truck. My radio is a freightliner radio. I just use my Sirius portable radio in the truck with my Freightliner radio. Seems to work fine.

Thanks for the responses.
