Why is it so expensive?

It has been on the market for quite a few years and the price has not come down. And I can't find any definitive reviews of its long term efficiency in big truck engine set up.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Can't see where the benefit is greater than the cost......I'll stay with the green.

It is expensive coolant, however if you do the conversion right it's a lifetime coolant. Another payback is being able to run your engine hotter for improved fuel economy. Usually trucks have a 180 degree thermostat and with Evans you are able to up that to 210 degrees and use a resistor pack to regulate the fan to around 230 degrees. There is a known number for your fuel mileage improvement for every 10 degrees of increased engine temperature but I don't know it. I helped a friend do this conversion and he did pick up fuel mileage and has had no problems. I know that Kevin ran Evans for years in his fed ex trucks and he liked it. My truck has just over one million miles and I was advised from evans to wait and do the conversion after I rebuild the engine.

I would highly recommend your friend to re check his evans coolant regularly with a refractometer cause I found that as the motor heats and cools every day that the water percentage rose. When I started out with Evans I was at 1% water which Evans allows up to 3% after 4 months of running it I re checked the % and was up to 5% so I had drain out some of the Evans and replace it with new Evans coolant in order to bring the % back down to less than 3%
