DD15 wont start despite good battery and starter

I have a 2012 DD15 engine. It wont start despite a strong battery and starter, there are no engine warning lights or codes.

My local mechanic (not a dealer) tried checking the fuel lines and changed the fuel filters, primed it, but no help.

When ether (starting fluid) is sprayed into the air intake the engine will fire like it is going to start, but as soon as the spray is stopped the engine stops.

I think it must have something to do with the fuel pump, or what used to be called a primer pump (or lifter pump) but there are no warning lights or codes, so any ideas?

Did this problem begin after a fuel filter change? There is a complex procedure for changing fuel filters on that engine.

Chris - I am not sure if my mechanic knows all of these procedures or not, do you have a link to the procedures to use after a filter change? However, the most recent difficulty came after the truck had just run a 3,000 mile week, then sat for two days while driver at home, then it just wouldn't start again. We have had previous problems after changing a filter.

could be the ecm. cheack all of the fuses, and inline fuses at the battery. mine ended up being the ecm. no warnings or codes, just shut it off to talk to the scale operator and she wouldnt start up.turned over but wouldnt fire.

Steven - I sure hope it is not the ecm. I'll bet that was a ton of money. I suppose there might be an inline fuse to the fuel pump? We can check for that perhaps.

I am not sure what your problem is but I do know Detroit recommends not using starting fluid
