You can always add lights to the interior of the trailer to add more light. With a translucent roof, you do have better light when loading. You also don't have the heat generated with an aluminum roof. However, an aluminum roof is easier to repair should you puncture a hole in it. All of our trailers (with the exception of climate control trailers) here at United have translucent roofs. If you are getting an older trailer with a translucent roof, make sure you check for leaks or cracks in the roof! It is harder, imo, to properly fix a translucent roof. I kept repairing mine until I ended up replacing the whole roof.
