scratch them up with sand paper, I found a better way, if you have a plug on top of intake, remove it put air line quick adapter on it place heavy peice of plastic  over aircleaner and reinstall. you wont get the full 30 psi but you can still dectect a leak, I spray with soapy water, I found a crack on intake at back .  also checks all clamped lines going into cac and airfilter and other side and air line to compresser.
