Well another good way to test and see if you have a blown head gasket or pin holes in your liners etc.Is to get a combustion in coolant tester this is a liquid that goes into a clear tube you remove surge tank cap then put the tube in hole in place of cap you watch when combustion gassesgases are present in the coolant the liquid will turn from a blue to a yellow. Typically things that can cause combustion in coolant is egr cooler pin holes in liners, bad injector tubes or copper cups. cracked head or block. When the air compressor goes bad or head gasket on air compressor. there will be no combustion gassesgases in coolant. as everyone has stated i would start with simplest first go from there. but this tool can help you in process of illimination.elimination. Also tool is only 20 to 50 us dollars
