another good idea that never appeared?

William, it's amazing how fast time flies and how fast I get distracted with other really cool projects. In business things change and along with that, our priorities. You are exactly correct though. It was a good idea that never happened. One day hopefully we'll get around to adding this feature to our completely FREE program. Thanks William for bringing this back to my attention.

Yes, this is on our list of features to add. Near the top too.

The way I want this Feature Requests section to work is the higher the score on the feature the more likely we'll get to it sooner. So if you like this feature be sure to vote it up.

Agreed I would also like to be able to have reminders based on those criteria, while there are other websites, plugins and programs that can already do this it would mean duplicated work adding your data into that system. We already do the necessary data entry in gauges it would be nice to have the feature here. One thing I would add is that the reminders should be triggered from the fuel entry when you add your mileage in there although that is probably a no brainer.

The mileage entered during a fuel-up being used as a measurement is a great idea. We'll be adding that to the mobile app we are producing right now for the Android and iOS devices.

Given that operating conditions have a significant bearing on when a PM is required, I have found that using the time method ensures that my truck/trailer is always adequately protected. Miles and/or fuel burned can not gauge such conditions. For instance I run a lot into southern Florida and the sand at times can really be a pain. Greasing them needs to be done more often given such conditions and following a time based schedule simply makes more sense under such circumstances. Your situation may differ of course.

True a time basis is good for many things but mileage is better for others like transition and rear end lube change or sample. and I have herd KR say that somethings should be done on gallons burned and it would be nice to have all my maintenance notifications in one place.

Aaron, the new version looks great! The ability to track maintenance schedules and the ability to add a maintenance item not in the list would get me back into the fold. I really like the ability to do things in the "cloud", but this feature to me is a no brainer!

Keep up the great work!

William

Well that will tell if you need an oil change but a "PM" could be a lot of things. how about a reminder to pull the oil sample, grease truck and trailer, test the coolant additives, or track how long a component is lasting.

There is a great little addon for Firefox that should help with that. It is called ReminderFox.

Well there are a lot of calenders and reminder add-on's but their all on a time schedule not fuel burned or miles, there are probably some automotive maintenance app's that would go off of miles but if you don't update your odometer in them they wouldn't do you any good.
