The ScanGauge KR has a 8 second "smoothed over" instant MPG reading, rather than instant readings that jump all over the place too fast.

It also has an instant Profit Per Mile reading as you're going down the road. This is achieved by entering your price of fuel at each fill-up and either your load rate or fuel surcharge rate. It's an amazing function watching profit change as you go down the road. It's a real incentive to adapt your driving habits. The end result is more profit for the driver.

The ScanGauge KR also allows you to watch your profit per individual trips (the call them Trip A and Trip B). The trip parameters are set by the driver so you can compare different loads, roads, etc.

The ScanGauge KR is easy to use and fun. Anybody with a ScanGauge D can ship it to Linear Logic and have it updated with the KR software for a small fee also.

Thank you, that is the kind of answer I was looking for.

I'd be interested in knowing what the custom programming they've done that was not already on the D as well. I know Kevin mentioned they were doing some custom programming to give additional information or more in-depth info that the D did not have.

That is why I started this topic LOL. Kevin has mentioned that the KR does things the D does not do, but so far the only thing I know of is ECM mileage reading.

Kr are is more geared toward miles per gallon D is more general

Please elaborate. What does it tell you that makes it "geared toward miles per gallon"?

Chris Hileman,

The KR has a 8 second running average that the D does not. After 8 seconds the first second drops off and is replaced by the current second. Many instant read gauges change so fast it's hard to figure out things.

Nobody knows huh? What I am looking for is someone to tell me the specific readings the KR reads, so I can compare it with the specific things the D model reads. Like I said above, I know the D does not read ECM mileage, are there any other things different between the two?

I heard what Kevin said at the beginning of hour 3 on Sunday 4.7.13 show, but that did not answer my question.

I'd think they'd have put a list out already. I suppose you could call ScanGauge direct and get the info from them. They did program it, if anyone should know the differences it should be them.

WOW KR site with a KR question about a KR device and no one can answer the question? I already have the D and would like to know the answer also? And add 1 more- What does it cost to reprogram the D?

If you look at the "Accepted Answer" at the top of the page, you will find the answer. It's been up there since yesterday. The upgrade fee to KR edition is $25.00. Ship your unit to the following address: Linear-Logic 2222 South Dobson Road Suite # 801 Mesa, Arizona 85202 Attention: Upgrade

Jeffrey Szarley,

That is not a bad price, I think I will do that.

Chris Hileman,

I don't get why you are so negative about this site Your. I haven't seen very many posts lately that indicate you have anything positive to say about Kevin or his site.... The snide comments are less than productive.

Brian Smith,

notice that both "Your" answers have different reputation scores - you dropped the wrong one. fixed it ;)

Jerzy Zaleski,

Why would you want to slow the info that it puts out? Sooner I get the info the sooner I can compensate. As for as the profit per mile, well I hope it is more accurate reading than the MPG. Why would you want this function if it is not accurate? My MPG on scan gauge D is about 1 MPG off. If it says 5.5 MPG, puts me at 6.2-6.6 MPG. So this "amazing function" you speak of is full of false info? Scan gauge D already has a CPM "cents per mile" (which is inaccurate) so with a little math you can come up with all these WRONG numbers for free.

I live in AZ. How long does it take to do the upgrade generally? Getting home for 3 days.

Don, I don't have an exact time frame. If you overnight it to AZ, it shouldn't be more than two business days (maybe even one). Just call Linear Logic ahead of time @ 480-656-3842 and let them know you are sending the unit in for upgrade. I do know that Linear Logic has been an awesome company to deal with and has had some pretty fast turn around times for the original programming. Hope this helps you Don.

According to KR today on his show....

The 8 second is not a delay, its an average over the last 8 seconds. This helps to not make the data so jumpy and thus give you an actual number to work with.

He also said if you use fuel gauges, you can figure out the adjustment needed and adjust the scan gauge to give more accurate results.
