What causes constant crankcase pressure code?

I have a 2008 450 isx cummins with 612000 miles. I keep getting engine fault code for crankcase pressure. when i change the filter it doesnt have much oil on it but the code will go away for about two days then it comes back when i have a load. after about a month i will get the red engine light to shut down if im climbing a hill with a load. so i change the filter and go through it all over again. i've changed the sensor already but that didnt help. i remember the very first time i had a crancase pressure code i changed the filter and it was dripping wet with oil. it was ok for about a year after that. when i change the filter now its not like that, its almost dry compared to the first time. i thought maybe i need rings but im not getting any blue smoke. and if i did need rings wouldn't the filter be wet from excessive oil? i dont know what else to try and the few mechanics i talked to shrugged thier shoulders.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Same problem with our RV, they want $23,000 to rebuild engine. Our engine only has 58,000 miles on it. No one can help. Did you get an answer?

I have the same engine and the same problem. I've changed the sensor and plug looks fine. Problem went away for about 3 days, now coming back. Anybody have more info about this?

Turned out, my problem was a broken wire in the plug to the sensor. Cummins in Coburg,OR reworded it and all is good. The mechanic told me it is a common problem.

I would pop into a Cummins factory store not a truck dealership and run this by them to see what they say.''italic text''

i had problems with the actual plug. it was allowing moisture in and giving the code. when the sensor is unplugged the code should go away.

I have had the same problem with my 08 C-15 Cat. Changed oil filter on top of motor where oil breather tube now goes thru to filter the breather air because of the reg. for those DPF system. These filters are expected to be changed every 100,000 miles i am told.

I had the same problem with mine. Turns out there was a break in the wire right where the wire goes into the plug.
