Is a US driver allowed in Canada?

If you have a 'reckless operation' conviction from your personal vehicle 2 years ago, are you allowed in Canada with a commercial vehicle?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I would call Canadian Border Control and ask before I made the trip and got stuck at the border. Canada is kinda picky on convictions.''italic text''

As long as you have a passport & ID and no criminal record like assault, weapons, or dui charges and have all you paperwork in order you are good. Just don't get cutie with customs and do the yes sir, no sir or yes mam, no mam you will be fine. The trick is getting back in the U.S. they will put you through the 3rd degree. Just keep your cool and show them respect and don't get upset because you a U.S. Citizen. Remember as long as you are between the two customs crossings and have not been cleared through the customs line you are in neutral territory. Or to put blunt when you are between the two countries you are a person without a country, you are in limbo.

If they had a DUI charge but it was reduced to reckless operation but no conviction of DUI, will this make a difference?

Having a DUI pled down to Reckless doesn't mean anything to Canada. They go back to what you were arrested for in the first place. THEN they look at the disposition of the case. I can not get in right now because I was accused of assault and battery, but the case was dropped after the person admitted lying. Problem is I have no disposition on this case. Hence they revert to what I was arrested for. You can call the Canadian Ministry of Transportation to make sure.
