180 degrees thermostat on isx engine

Is it good idea to change from a 190 to 180 degrees thermostat on 07 isx engine. Would that hurt my fuel economy. Not really used to these newer engines, but it makes me nervous cause sometimes when puling big hills in hot weather coolant goes up to 220 degrees and oil to 240. Is that normal for these engines? I know they suppose to run hotter. Isx built in late 2006 pre dpf.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

All 2003-2009 egr ISXs use a 180 degree thermostat (not sure about 2010 and newer.) They still run warm compared to pre egr engines. I have heard there is a 150 degree thermostat available for marine applications but I dont think it would help much in the summer unless you have an overkill radiator.
