red colored fuel in fuel filter canister

I had my oil changed at speedco. When they changed the fuel filter they noticed some red fluid in the fuel. Haven't lost any antifreeze in 8 months. I have never put anything in my fuel tanks. I have never bought "off highway" use fuel. I have a 04' volvo 780 w/ isx cummins. any ideas???

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

It didn't look like fuel that was dyed red. It looks like a fluid in the fuel that was red looking. Does off highway fuel just have a red tint to it?

Non taxed fuel or off highway fuel is dyed red so its easily identified.I dont know where you our buying fuel but you need to get this red dyed fuel out

of your system. If DOT catches this, the fines are up there.

Get this fuel out, then try to troubleshoot why, where, when.

If the red fluid is separated from the fuel, it indicates that it is water based. (thinking rust colored water) recommend use a fuel treatment -Howells, Power Service, etc. read label to make sure remove water. Seeing more water in the fuel with the bio-diesel.

When I had this problem it was coolant getting in the fuel due to cracked injector cups.
