On Roll-Tite cover trailers, can you drive them when open?

I am looking to start up a O/O business this year and one customer ideally wants a Roll-Tite trailer. However, I have another customer that has a need for an open flatbed/step deck.

If you operate a Roll-Tite (Eagle, Chameleon, Vango, LCS, etc.) style trailer, do you have to have them in the closed/covered position when driving? How water tight are these systems?

I have a Quick Draw kit. I know that Tarpstop (Perrysburg,OH) makes a kit that can run open. I never have tried to drive with mine open nor have any desire to do it, but I have seen guys do it. Just make sure that the bows don't put you over 13'6" when the kit is open.

The company I lease to uses Chemealian (sp?) and Minute Man roll-tops. We haul glass, which is very sensitive to moisture, our loads stay dry. As far as running with them open, I've seen it done but you have to make sure you are not over width or over height as Jeremy says above.
