Auto shift maybe splitter prob?

01 columbia C12 RTO 16710C-A82. smart shift

On,wed it stuck in 6th while downshifting. Turn truck off let it reset fiddeled with shifter got it working. No prob rest of day. Thrs started oit ok then same thing. Gets "F" on gear indicator for fault. Found that on downshifting if I let it get to 6th then push clutch in wait for 5th keeps going down ok. On up shift now gets fault going fron 5th to 6th but keeps up shifting ok while flashing "F" Drive for a while in 10th fault goes away. When stuck in 6th an shift to N doesn't go back into D will go reverse but it is R2 "hi side" shift to L goes to 6th.

Limping along until home fri tjen to shop. Hope it's a sensor not not $$$$$

X-Y seems ok as it will shift up and down 6 to 10 ok even with the flashing "F" wont go below 6. Its the 5 6 shift that starts the big "F"

I had the same problem. Could be the xy shifter or trans ecm or wire harness. I had to crawl under truck to bang on trans when it hung up in gear.

Right next to the X-Y shifter there is a valve/spliter that has an air line attacthed to it.Take it of,clean/replace it.Maybe this might solve your problem.

Cycle your ignition key on/off 3 or 4 times coming back to the on position. Look at the red transmission service red.It will blink the error codes. At least you will know whats wrong or look at the problem areas.

If it does this on the road, there is an inline fuse (10 amp mini ) between the transmission harness and engine ECM.In fact I would check this out first before anything.Take the fuse out and look at the fuse holder for corrosion. This will also reset the transmission ECU

This a.m. i took a look under the truck. Saw the splitter valve with the airline. Also two sensors on the output shaft. Took the connectors off looked for corrosion saw none put them back on. Drove about 130 miles didn't have problem. Only ran through the gears about three times though.

by

The two sensors on the output shaft are the VSS (vehicle speed sensors) circuits.I was talking about under the hood,on the drivers side where the engine ECM and the transmission wiring harness connect.

Fixed now. Had a shorted range valve and bad harness.

After the shop does all the procedures, you will be at over 2000.00, then they will add parts. I had the same problems, I told them i want a clutch, they told me I didnot need one.after 4000.00 at Dallas Freightliner, I left very pissedoff. tried to make it home to NY. I stopped at shreveport,la freightliner, told them to put a clutch in, and a new x y shifter. just cause it s hard to put the xy in later. it was the clutch, sending bad codes. altogether i had 9.000.00 in cost.

i will never own another one

I have a 2001 Freightliner Century eaton fuller 10sp Auto that has been misbehaving lately! Whenever I am driving it there are times when it gets stuck in gear. Sometimes it happens daily sometimes it goes a few days without issues. When I am driving and get to 10th gear it sometimes gets stuck and starts flashing an "F" and will not downshift. Lately it's happening in ALL GEARS even Neutral!! When it's stuck in gear I pull over and let it sit for a while then the truck will reset and it will start and drive fine for a while. Other times it gets stuck and won't reset even after disconnecting the batteries!! When it does finally crank again it is stuck in neutral flashing an "F". This truck has had me stuck on the side of the road for hours simply frustrating!!! I have had to be towed three times!! I have only allowed Freightliner dealers work on the vehicle and so far they are clueless as well!! Memphis Freightliner replaced the transmission shift controller thinking that would fix the problem and I drove 70 miles and it happened again! Charlotte Freightliner replaced the x-y shifter, oem harness, transmission harness and two batteries and I drove 281 miles and it happened again! Kansas City Freightliner has replaced the ground harness and it's still happening!! Anyone out there have any idea what needs to be done to fix the problem? I have searched several forums and the entire internet with no luck! I see that several truckers have had this issue posted but didn't say how they fixed it....

Codes Trans Shft FNGR Rail / Sht Lo 130 060 04 and Trans Shft FNGR Gear / Sht Lo 130 059 04

HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

have a 2006 9400i and had similar problems. Engine guys blamed it on transmission controller and Transmission guys blamed it on Engine controller. Ended up being a .25 cent connector in the main harness on the firewall gave power to Transmission controller. took it apart and found corrosion on 1 pin. Replaced that one pin and have been driving for over 3 years now.

charles, was reading this on ie and had to go to foxfire to post.

kfl, some solutions can be so simple and cheap. those dealers make lots of money off repairs.

Had the same problem with my 2007 Int 9400i with the ultra shift, weeks and problems I finally had JP Hyatte my local shop fix it. 1731.00 for a new wire harness and x-y shifter. %^&@ thing runs like a corvette now! I like this transmission and cannot condemn it because of a mechanical failure. All mechanical devices will eventually come after a paycheck as did this one. Not a big deal and we could not be happier with the truck, transmission and unit as a whole. We bought our truck from a great dealer in KC, KS Transport Truck on Kaw Drive, call 913-334-2400 ask for Casey or Bob, they rock.
