strange clicking noise in cummins isx

Hello, recently I bought a Volvo 2008 truck with Cummins ISX 400ST engine. When letting go of accelerator there is a strange rapidly clicking noise from the engine. It is not very loud and I don't know is it normal? Newer had this engine before. The truck is a old Swift truck. When I accelerate the is no noise at all, as well on idle or PTO. There is also a switch for an engine brake with three positions, but it appears to be working on position 1: whereas 2 and 3 is the same braking, my old truck was different. I also don't know is it normal.

I have a 2009 ISX 525 HP and I have the same thing. It almost sounds like the engine brake coming on ever so slightly. Cummins tells me it is normal. As far as the engine brake positions Cummins also told me there is only 2 settings even though my KW has a 3 postion switch.

You have 3 settings. 1st is 3 cylinders, 2nd is 6 cylinders, 3rd is 6 cylinders and back pressure from the VG turbo.

i have a 07 Volvo with ISX and it is also a old swift truck. What mine is starting to do is, making a noise when shifting. sounds like engine brake is on,but its not. It only does it for split second. Mine has a slight clicking when accelerating as well. My engine brake is the same way.

I have a 2010 Kenworth T660 with the ISX485, and had the exact same thing happen to my. They had to replace the engine brake harness under the rocker cover. One of the fingers had broken off and parts of the harness were rubbing. I have photos of the harness. Kenworth couldn't find the problem after 3 trips to them, so I took it to volvo near my house and they found it 1st visit. Also Cummins has a service bulletin about this problem on there quickserve site which I printed off. *@#$!% my off because kenworth should have known about this. Problem fixed.
