Tax deduction for vacation

I am taking a load to Phoenix and staying for a week to vacation and then loading in Phoenix for the trip back. Can I deduct motel room and car rental for the weeks stay?

If you are an owner operator then yes you can. The way the IRS views this: Technically if you do anything that's business related on that vacation the whole vacation is tax deductible. Example: if you go to a truck dealer and look at trucks for a couple hours then the whole vacation is tax deductible. So just one business related thing and you can deduct all of your motel bill, and car rental. If you were flying there you could also deduct your air fares. I believe you can also take the per diem deduction for all the days your on vacation. Your not required to have any proof or written documentation of the business related things you were doing. So...your going to Phoenix for a week to take a look at some trucks, got it?
