Check out the Rand McNally truckers atlas. There is a mountain of state by state info in there!

Different states have different rules for weights. Most of them out west allow over 80,000 lbs with a spread axle trailer as long as you are long enough to meet the distance between axles in the Federal Bridge Laws. But not California, or Arizona. Ask whoever does your pro rated license plates, you must pay for the extended weights in states that allow over 80,000 lbs. We have a company in central Minnesota called Transport Licensing from St Cloud MN, that is well versed in those regulations, as they take care of most of the fleets including Anderson Trucking Service and their Heavy Haul Division routinely runs over 200,000 lb loads.
