How do you value a truck/trailer
I want to sell a truck/trailer with a job. How do I put a value on it.
Is this a good question?
Well the truck and trailer are easy to value. Just look up the same equipment on truckpaper.com or trucktrader.com and you will get an idea of how much they are worth. The business is more complicated. It depends on if you have contracts that are being sold. What kind of jobs? Typically I like to value a business on what it nets per year and decide on a multiple of that figure. Like I said before it just depends on the structure of the business. If there is no contract and no guarantee that this business will be there year after year for the new owner then it's not worth much. On the other hand if there is a specific contract that is being sold it can be worth quit a bit especially if the new owner has the ability to resell the contract, like the fed ex contracts. I guess we would need more information and then we could talk more about how to value your specific business. So right now it's worth a minimal of what the truck and trailer will bring on the open market and we can ad some to that price depending on what business opportunity we are selling with it. Give us some more details and we can try to get a better answer for you.
