Not if you live in Tx, as of 1~1~18, they will increase my rate by 26%

I just looked at their site, and as soon as I clicked on Own Authority, it popped up with they don't have the coverage I need. The site didn't ask anything before this, so I assume they wont handle it at all.

The cheapest for me, may not be the cheapest for you. In other words, you probably need to shop around for the best deal.

I would try Progressive if they offer it in your home state. In some states they may have a radius limitation of about a 1,000 miles. I checked around and they seem to be the best price & easiest to get on with.

Ok, I've noticed no one has said how much the insurance is. Why? I don't know. To much H S talk about it depends when all people have to do is SAY what they pay. Insurance is about $850 a month. With GL it is about $900 plus a mo. Pretty god d high compared to some remedial research on the web, which is basically worthless.

Addition: I cut 1 driver out of 2 today. The insurance didn't drop much. Just dropped to about $840 a mo. This is for tractor, flatbed, & the GL.

I pay about $700 a month for truck/trailer/cargo and rider insurance. It is hard to compare because everyone has different deductibles and coverage amounts.

Thanks Mike,

Appreciate the straight talk!

After a number of years I've come to realize Progressive is high. But they maybe the only option available to the new guy. I pay about $600 now but this is do to the fact that I drive flatbed during construction season, low miles; which I did when I was on with Progressive.

Sutter/golden insurance is my insurance provider 1-909-988-5353. I payed $418.00 a month now I pay $360.00 a month with about $1,000 to $1,500 down to start. We are primarily a California only carrier so that brings the costs down also.

The state you are based in may change your rate drastically too. If you are leased to a carrier, you may want to get a rate quote on the state their base plate is in as well as your own state. You might save a lot by also getting your own base plate. In my case, it was much cheaper for me to register my truck in a different state than my own. It saved me almost half off my insurance rate and it was well worth the trouble!

The few dollars you save may be very costly in a claim situation. Do not skimp on Insurance.I have Great Western of Sioux City IA not cheap, but good service from the agent Great River Insurance from Mankato MN. Been insuring truckers for a long long time and know the industry front to back.

Probably the cheapest way to insurance is to be self insured.

I use walker Meyers risk management. I pay 338 month for non trucking and physical damage set for value of 83k??. They do 4% of your equipment divided by 12 months.

If interested let me know, I can give you Eileen information.

I just did the figuring on what you just offered. Your value is $83,000 x 4% = $3,320 / 12 mos = $276.666. But you said your mo. insurance is $338.00 a month. What am I doing wrong?

So, if what your saying works; if a person has $50,000 in equipment, based on what I think your saying it would work out like this: $50,000 x 4% = $2000 / 12 mos = $166.6666 a month. Is this true? If so I might call Eileen.

Thanks

My insured value is $96,314. Physical damage is the formula I gave which makes my policy 96314×.04=3852.76........divided by 12 months is 321.05 per month. I believe this is actually done on a daily basis because January was about 325 and The bill I just received for febuary was 287.10

Bobtail (non trucking liability) is fixed 35.00 per month.

these are for million dollar policy.

100,000 Combined single limit

900,000 Excess coverage

1,000 comp/collision deductible.

O yeah, I did not have to out any money down. In fact, if you get insurance for april, you will be billed around the middle of june. Basically you get insurance, then you pay for it. Atleast that's how it is with my account. I only have 1 truck and trailer, so it's not a big account

by

I'm probably going 2 give them a call. Thank you

by

I called Eileen. After all the talk come to find out you DON'T have your own Authority so your numbers don't work for me. All your talk'n about is the primary.

Thanks anyway. I'm sure it will help someone.
