if you're happy with a 10 speed then it's not.

a 9 speed convertable is inexpensive, but a 10 speed is not.that will be up to you.we only buy 13 or 18 speeds.prefer 13 for what we do,but if an 18 speed is available at a reasonable price we buy it.never even think about a 10 speed

A 13 speed makes a truck much more drivable and you can keep PRM's much closer to where you want them. Also, you can split down 1/2 gear when using your Jake on downhills. Jake will hold back much better at higher RPM. 18 speed is usually overkill except for heavy haul, but if you can find one cheap it will be worth it. Be careful when buying used 13 or 18 as many people don't drive them right and splitter gear section doesn't hold up well to abuse. As other person said, some Fuller 9 speeds are convertible to a 13 (changing back section), and you can pick them up cheap used.
